Where to go this Negroni Week, 18 – 22 Sept
There is always a good excuse to have a tipple in the big smoke and Negroni Week is right on point to do just that from 18th to 22nd September.
Although my cocktail of choice is an oldfashioned, it would be rude not to show some love to those who prefer this bitter meets sweet, herb meets licorice fusion of flavours.
We have pulled together a little list of where to grab your fave, as a classic or with a twist. Now, all you have to do is pull together your crew and plan your route.
.
The Rivoli Bar at The Ritz
Yes, we have begun a little bit on the bougie side, but what’s not to love about this iconic hotel. The ‘Grande Dame’ in London since 1906, is home to a Michelin-starred restaurant, so The Rivoli Bar is in good company. Head down to Mayfair for their Rainforest Negroni, £25; No3 Gin-washed Coconut Oil, Muyu Vetiver Gris Liqueur, Campari Bitter, Ramos Pinto-infused Strawberries and Poppy Seeds. Taking Negroni to the next level we would say.
.
Mama Shelter Shoreditch
Playful French chain, Mama Shelter, has a spot near Shoreditch and thay have a classic on the list. For £11, enjoy their Negroni, with no frills or tricks, just flavour. If not booked, head to their ethereal Garden Bar which has a retractable roof if the good weather holds on unlimited rays.
.
Le Magritte at The Beaumont
We are going five star again with art deco elegance from The Beaumont. Its cosy, 30 seater cocktail bar, Le Magritte Bar and Terrace, belongs to a great tradition of American bars that became legendary in London and Paris during the 1920s. Having recently made The Beaumont its home, during Negroni Week and long after, their £20 serve is based on the original.
.
Gaucho Restaurants
If you are looking for something a little different, then Gaucho has entered stage left. The Citrus Negroni is a signature serve with Gin, Campari, nectarine aperitivo, reconstructed lemon juice and gomme, topped with tangerine foam, yum. Sip this sumptuous cocktail against the stunning backdrop of their dramatic interiors.
.
Bar Termini
Launched in 2014 by Marco Arrigo and Tony Congliaro (drinks writer, published author, award winner), this spot is reminiscent of traditional 1950’s Italian bars. During and beyond Negroni Week, sample their outstanding Classico, Superiore, Rosata and Robusto range of Negroni. Get cosy in this intimate and stylish spot on Old Compton Street.
