Mint Leaf London: A Grand Indian Surprise in the City
There are some restaurants you plan for, and others that genuinely surprise you. Mint Leaf London falls firmly into the second category.
Tucked into the City, this is not your typical traditional Indian restaurant. The moment you walk in, the space feels expansive and polished. High ceilings, dramatic lighting, and a sleek bar create a setting that feels refined yet relaxed. It carries that modern City of London energy while still honouring its Indian roots. It is grand without being intimidating.

To start, we went for the Tandoor Mix Grill platter, and this is where Mint Leaf truly shines.
The platter is generous and ideal for sharing. It brings together a selection of tandoor cooked meats and seafood, each piece distinct in flavour and texture. You get lamb, chicken kebabs, prawns, and salmon, all beautifully charred and layered with spice.
The standout for us was the salmon. It was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked, with just the right balance between heat and depth. It is not always easy to get salmon right in a tandoor, but this was spot on. The lamb had richness and bite, the chicken was juicy and well seasoned, and the prawns carried that satisfying charred finish.
It is the kind of platter that lets you explore everything at once. Great variety, strong flavours, and elegant presentation.
Mains Made for Sharing
For the mains, we chose the butter chicken masala and the lamb biryani.
The butter chicken was comforting and indulgent. Creamy, rich, and layered with spice without being overpowering. It is a classic for a reason, and here it is done with care and precision.
The lamb biryani was fragrant and generous. The rice was light and fluffy, with tender pieces of lamb woven through every spoonful. The spices were balanced, aromatic rather than heavy, which makes it easy to keep going back for more.
On the side, we had paratha, flaky and warm, perfect for scooping up every bit of sauce. It is one of those simple additions that completes the table.

To finish, we explored traditional Indian desserts, including gulab jamun.
Soft, syrup soaked dumplings served warm, gulab jamun is sweet, rich, and comforting. It is a classic ending and a lovely contrast to the savoury depth of the mains. We also tried other traditional sweet options, each bringing that familiar, nostalgic touch that rounds off an Indian meal perfectly.
The Verdict
Mint Leaf London manages to blend tradition with a polished City setting. The food is thoughtful, generous, and beautifully presented. The space feels perfect for after work dinners, weekend gatherings, or even something more special.
If you are in the City and looking for a place that delivers both atmosphere and flavour, this is one to keep on your list. They offer dining menus, weekend options, and dedicated spaces for private events, making it ideal whether you are stopping by for dinner or planning something bigger.
