Morty & Bob’s Kings Cross

Morty & Bob’s is a charming, family-owned restaurant, café, and bar with multiple locations in London. We recently visited their Kings Cross branch, situated in the vibrant Coal Drops Yard. This standout establishment offers a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, serving comforting food and delightful drinks.

What sets Morty & Bob’s apart are their delectable Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, which have gained quite a reputation. Originating from a food stall in East London’s Netil Market, these sandwiches have since become a hit at music festivals and pop-up events throughout the UK. We had the pleasure of trying them, and they were absolutely delicious!

The menu at Morty & Bob’s features a range of British dishes with an American twist, all made with locally sourced, fresh, seasonal ingredients. In addition to their delectable food, Morty & Bob’s proudly stocks a wide selection of London-made beers, spirits, and mixers, supporting local producers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, particularly the Polpette – Italian meatballs in a rich tomato sauce served with sourdough. The Parmesan & truffle fries with aioli were also a highlight.

For the main course, we savored the Chicken schnitzel with a fried egg and caper & herb butter, accompanied by perfectly grilled broccoli. We also appreciated the plant-based option on the menu – the Braised butterbeans with green harissa and roasted fennel.

Morty & Bob’s Kings Cross is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 11pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 6pm. With its warm and inviting ambiance, featuring exposed brickwork, wooden tables, and an abundance of greenery, it’s the ideal spot for a delightful lunch or dinner experience.

We’ve heard great things about their brunch, so we’ll definitely be returning to try it out ourselves.
