A Cosy Holiday Visit to Shoryu Soho: Our Kurisumasu Menu Review

We visited Shoryu Ramen in Soho to try their Kurisumasu Menu, and from the moment we stepped inside, the experience felt warm, lively and true to the spirit of Japanese dining. The venue itself is intimate with low lighting, a calm buzz of conversation and the familiar steam rising from bowls of ramen being served around the room.

As soon as we arrived, the team welcomed us with the traditional Shoryu taiko drum, which they strike to greet guests. It is a short moment but full of charm, almost like stepping into a little corner of Japan in the middle of London. We began the evening with two festive cocktails. One was a bright berry drink over crushed ice with fresh cranberries and mint. The other was the Snow Buddy, a creamy seasonal cocktail topped with a floating gingerbread man. Both were fun, light and perfect for the holiday menu.

Our starters arrived shortly after. The Brussels sprout tempura was crisp and airy, served in a small paper cup. It is simple, but because the batter is light, it works very well. We also had the Shoryu JFC crispy chicken, golden outside and tender inside, served with a wedge of lemon. A classic, done right.

The Kurisumasu ramen was the highlight of the evening. The bowl was generous and colourful, filled with creamy tonkotsu broth, sliced pork belly, seasonal greens, half a soft egg, and of course, the playful pigs in blankets resting on top. Small cranberries add sweetness and bring a festive touch. It is full, comforting and ideal for a cold night in Soho.

As the restaurant filled, the atmosphere grew warmer, with the team moving quickly and the kitchen rhythm adding to the experience. Sitting inside Shoryu truly feels like finding shelter from the busy streets outside.

To finish, the dessert made us smile. The snowman shaped vanilla mochi looks almost too cute to eat, with its soft round layers and tiny carrot nose. It is light, sweet and the perfect ending to a winter meal.

Our visit to Shoryu Soho was cosy and enjoyable from start to finish. The Kurisumasu Menu celebrates the season with playful touches, without losing the quality and comfort that make ramen such an essential winter dish. If you are looking for a warm, casual and festive dining experience, this is a lovely choice for the holidays.
