Sunday Roast at Chiringuito

Fancy a good Sunday roast?

Chiringuito has launched a weekend menu of lazy brunches and Sunday roasts that draws from Latin-American flavors and looks forward to the warmth of summer days.

The perfect spot for after work cocktails with friends, laid-back weekend brunches or dinner under the stars.

Chiringuito opened in Bethnal Green during the long hot summer of 2018; now, as winter rolls by, the neighborhood bar and restaurant has launched a weekend menu of lazy brunches and Sunday roasts that draws from Latin-American flavors and looks forward to the warmth of summer days.

Peruvian Head Chef Marco Padilla has created a weekend menu inspired by fresh Hispanic and Latin American flavors while embracing seasonal British produce. The Sunday Roast menu includes Pollo Pachamanca, half a baby chicken slow-roasted in the traditional Peruvian style, as well as Carne Asada of slow-cooked British rump with rosemary and served with rich beef gravy.

All roasts are accompanied by an abundance of crispy rosemary potatoes, honey-glazed carrots and seasonal roasted vegetables.

The sharing ethos remains at the heart of Chiringuito’s food and drinks menu; guests are encouraged to order classic dishes para picar, such as Padron Peppers, Pulpo a la Gallega and Patatas Bravas, alongside larger plates including the mixed seafood Arroz con Marisco. When the weekend arrives, guests can settle in for bottomless brunch with free-flowing Bloody Marys, Bellinis and Frozen Margaritas to accompany the mouth-watering breakfast feast.

Dishes include the Veggie Chiringuito Breakfast of eggs, vegan chorizo, mushroom, grilled tomato, halloumi, mixed beans and sourdough toast or Peruvian-style Granola comprising quinoa, chia, almonds, pecans and served with coconut yoghurt, honey and fresh fruit.

Diners are invited to prolong weekend afternoons out on the heated rooftop terrace with a glass or Two of Spanish wine or craft beers from local East London breweries. The bar also offers an extensive range of Spanish gins, whilst the cocktail menu puts Latino twists on classics such as the Mezcaloni, a Mexican take on the Negroni, stirred down with Gem & Bolt mezcal, thyme syrup, chili infused cacao and Campari.

Chiringuito is the passion project of a local East-Londoner Alex Dehayen who converted a derelict public toilet block, next to Bethnal Green tube station, into a contemporary all-day bar and dining space. Loosely translated from Spanish, a chiringuito is an all-day beachfront bar and restaurant serving tapas, drinks and snacks. With a rooftop over-looking the Museum Gardens and a light-strewn azure-tiled interior, the neighborhood bar and restaurant calls to mind the warmth, energy and ethos of whole days whiled away at a Spanish beach bars.

The venue design takes its cues from Spanish influences reflected in the peseta topped bar and an eye-catching, hand-painted mural designed by Mallory Dawn.

The heated rooftop bar and restaurant downstairs are both available for private party hire and can be rented out together for larger gatherings with a combined capacity of 150 seated or 200 standing.

Framed by the surrounding trees, with rooftop views across the church and park below, Chiringuito is the perfect spot for after work cocktails with friends, laid-back weekend brunches or dinner under the stars.
